So you’ve got a summer internship — congratulations on your first slay in the working world. Summer internships are exciting experiences that’ll get you closer to achieving your career goals and help you discover what industry best suits you and your interests. An internship is a huge stepping stone in your early career, so you should give yourself a nice pat on the back.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been obsessed with watching intern vlogs on TikTok. They’re super entertaining and motivating to watch. As an aspiring public relations professional, I’m constantly adding career advice and internship essentials videos to my saved folder on TikTok. It’s also just great to see female professionals crushing it in their careers, and sharing what they learned to help uplift young women who are soon entering their adult era.

It’s also normal to admit that you might be nervous about entering the workplace. As an intern myself, my best tip would be to remember you don’t have to know everything to succeed. It’s a huge learning curve, but you’re going to learn so much and grow not only as a professional, but also as an individual. Here are 12 summer internship essentials to help you get the most out of your internship experience.

Bagsmart Laptop Sleeve ($11)

Protect your laptop with a cute case.

Baggu Medium Nylon Crescent Bag ($52)

Carry all of your internship essentials in a stylish bag. People on TikTok are going crazy over Baggu bags and how much stuff they can fit into them.

Orcielo 5-Pack Card Protector ($6)

A card tag is great for carrying your badge or public transit card.

Maxijuli Blue Light Blocking Glasses ($7)

If your internship involves staring at a computer screen, you’re probably going to need a pair of blue light glasses for all the screentime you’ll do.

Kytffu Glass Water Bottle with Straw ($27)

Hydration is key for productivity and taking care of yourself. Never forget to bring your water bottle.

Purell Advanced Hand Sanitizer Refreshing Gel ($15)

If you’re going into the office, it would be a good idea to have hand sanitizer handy —especially if you’re using public transportation to commute to work.

Hiearcool USB C Hub, Adapter USB C Dongle ($22)

Always have a laptop adapter on hand if you have to display your presentations on a monitor, or be that intern that saves the day if none of your teammates brought one to work.

Zeru Wireless Mouse ($12)

Social media interns, pay attention! You’re going to need a bluetooth mouse for all the screenshots and image dragging you’re going to do.

Bentgo All-in-One Stackable Bento Lunch Box Container ($17)

A bento box container is great for storing your lunch and snacks for your breaks.

Gardsell Corduroy Purses Smile Dots Cosmetic Bag ($12)

Everyone needs a pouch to stuff their smaller or “random” items. Otherwise, it’s all going to get lost in your tote bag, bestie.

Trinkets

Work can get tough sometimes, so you’re going to need something to get through the day. I’ve been seeing people on TikTok attach Sonny Angels to their devices and bring them everywhere they go. I mean, look at their cute little faces

Auvon Weekly Pill Organizer ($8)

Always pack your vitamins and medicine in an organizer for when you’re on the go. You’re going to need to do everything you can to make sure you’re taking care of your health as a busy intern.
