Even if you weren’t that into the symbolism of the green light or Fitzgerald’s comments on the shallow consumerism of the Jazz Age, I think we can all agree that Jay Gatsby threw some seriously awesome parties. And, since Baz Luhrman’s cinematic version the classic novel just hit screens in May, collegiettes everywhere have been fantasizing about what it would be like to party with Gatsby .
As it turns out, we’re not the only ones. A talented group of students at University of California-Los Angeles decided to figure out exactly what The Great Gatsby would have looked like on campus today, resulting in the glorious exploits of “The Great Fratsby”, a celebrated Frat Star with a mysterious past (he was a loser in high school). The video, set to the soundtrack of Luhrman’s The Great Gatsby, parodies the feature film’s dramatic trailer follows Fratsby’s adventures as the ultimate bro, trading Gatsby’s pink suit for some salmon Chubbies, fine champagne for cheap beer, and tea parties for some serious ragers.
