There are few things I love more on this earth than McDonald’s breakfast. For whatever reason (probably the grease or the salt or the fat), I have a borderline problematic relationship with the breakfast sandwiches on that menu. I want McDonald’s breakfast all day, everyday.
If it weren’t for the fact that they only serve breakfast until 10:30 a.m. (or the fact that I don’t have a car), the Sausage McMuffin would have been a daily indulgence throughout college. On those lucky days where I got to experience what I could only assume to be what heaven tastes like, I savored every bite.
One time, after waiting in a drive through line for half an hour as Micky D’s switched over to the breakfast menu circa 4 a.m., I ordered a breakfast sandwich, ate it, decided I wanted more and made a Jimmy Dean’s breakfast sandwich the moment I got home. Probably not the healthiest of decisions, but hey, I gained 20 pounds for a reason my friends.
To my great luck, the Jump Start Diet has a breakfast sandwich pretty comparable to those of my beloved McDonalds, except for much healthier. I can’t even begin to explain how happy this makes me. I’ve had it for breakfast so many times and even for lunch or for a snack. I’ve actually said out loud “This is the best part of my day,” and “I literally love this little guy” — and my slightly concerned boyfriend can attest to that.
If you’re a fan of breakfast sandwiches, you should definitely give it a try! Here’s the recipe:
Egg and Cheese: Cook 1 egg to your liking in a pan coated with cooking spray. Place egg, 1 slice cheddar on a toasted whole-grain English muffin. Serve with 1/2 apple. 344 calories per serving, 15 g fat (8 g saturated), 37 g carbs, 7 g fiber, 18 g protein
