THE HC TEAM WEIGHS IN: What We’ll Miss About College This Summer

Want to know what’s going through the HC team’s head? Check in here every other week to see what the HC Team has to say about college tips, trends, news, etc.

This week we’re sharing what we will miss the most once we pack up our dorm rooms and move back home for the summer!

I’ll miss being just one door away from all of my closest friends.

– Dylan McCann, Catwalk to Campus Blogger, William & Mary College

I’ll miss the ability to go out every weekend with my new friends! Also, the food here, ha ha. I actually eat much healthier when I am here than when I am home!

  • Alexa Johnson, Campus Correspondent, James Madison University

I’ll miss being surrounded by thousands of young, creative people who constantly challenge me to grow intellectually! Also, froyo in the dining hall.

  • Tarina Quraishi, Contributing Writer, Harvard University

I will miss Wednesday movie nights with my friends! It’s the one part of the week where we can all relax and be silly together.

– Jessica Salerno, Contributing Writer, Ohio University

I’ll definitely miss my roommate from school! When you live in a dorm hall especially, it’s like a big sleepover every night: late-night snacks, movies, and girl talk (between study time, of course)!

  • Alexandra Churchill, Contributing Writer, University of New Hampshire

My friends and the college community as a whole; they’ve been my support system this past year.

  • Cady Lang, Campus Correspondent, Ithaca College

I’m going to miss the freedom of living in my own apartment. It was so awesome this year to be able to invite friends over on the weekends, chill in the pool and hot tub that our complex provided, and just overall be independent! I’m also going to miss all of the new friends I made this year through joining a sorority. I love summer, but it’s going to be bittersweet for me when I go home this year!

  • Laura Baugh, Campus Correspondent, Virginia Tech

I’ll miss all of my friends who are going back home! It’s much less crowded in Boston during the summer which is nice, but it’s never the same without everyone here!

  • Maddie Bourque, Editorial Intern, Boston University

I’m going to miss the extracurriculars I’m involved with the most! I’m an assistant editor at The Ram, Fordham’s journal of record, and our staff has gotten super close, so I’ll miss our weekly production nights.

  • Sarah Ramirez, Campus Correspondent, Fordham University

The freedom and convenience of everything! At Northeastern, everything I need is easily within walking distance. Now that I’m graduating and have a more set schedule with a full time job, it means I have much less freedom — I’m definitely going to miss that!

  • Rachel Kossman, Contributing Writer, Northeastern University

I will miss those opportunities to meet so many different people every single day. When I’m at home I fall into a steady routine of seeing and interacting with the same people.

– Kristie Demers, Campus Correspondent, NCSU

The freedom and minimal responsibility of being a college student!

  • Shaina Dennis, Campus Correspondent, University of Maine

I will miss the people. I spend eight months out of the year with everyone here at school and I have become very accustomed to having them here. I will feel disconnected from the ‘news’ that happens within our group. I will also miss the town. Iowa City is very friendly and active. I love how everything is right outside my door and there is always something going on.

– Nicole Lumbreras, Campus Corespondent, University of Iowa
