THE HC TEAM WEIGHS IN: Our Favorite Perfumes

Coco Chanel once said, “A woman who doesn’t wear perfume has no future.” While she may have been taking a little bit too far, we get what she was saying, although another designer, Christian Dior, may have it said it a little better when he explained, “a woman’s perfume tells more about her than her handwriting.”

So when you’re considering what to spritz on yourself this season, check out what the collegiettes™ at Her Campus are spraying! And let us know what fragrance is your favorite by leaving a comment below.

I wear Miss Dior Cherie perfume. Even though it’s a little expensive, a lot comes in a bottle and it has lasted me a really long time. I love the fresh scent of it; it’s really distinct and light. I don’t like a super heavy perfume that overwhelms me. It’s not too floral, but not too musky — it’s a perfect combo of both. I’d definitely recommend it.

I’m obsessed with the Chloe perfume. My mom and I both wear it like it’s our job because, in a weird way, it reminds us of London. It’s perfect because it’s feminine, classic, and easy on the nose!
-Kelsey Mulvey, Contributing Writer, Boston University

I wear Michael Kors by Michael Kors. I love that it has tuberose in it, which reminds me of the flowers that are in my lei whenever I go to Hawaii (my favorite place to visit!).
-Taylor Trudon, Career Editor, UConn alum

I like Sarah Jessica Parker’s SJP because it has floral notes in it so it was great for the summer and has transitioned well into the fall. It smells slightly fruity as well which makes me feel clean and fresh.
-Lauren Kroll, Campus Correspondent, Michigan State University

I love Taylor Swift’s new perfume, Wonderstruck. It’s a very sexy and feminine smell :)
– Lauren Hall, Campus Correspondent, SHSU

I love “natural scents”, anything with vanilla or lavender in it was made for me. My two favorite scents are Twilight Woods and Warm Vanilla Sugar perfume from Bath and Body Works. They both smell warm and sexy and aren’t overpowering. They certainly seem to be a favorite with my boyfriend too!

I have three different perfumes that I cycle through: Clinique Happy, Clinique Happy Heart, and Hollister’s Jake. I love wearing Clinique because it makes me feel flirty and definitely more girlie. I love wearing Jake because it lasts for an entire day and it mixes really well with my body chemistry.

Honestly, I just can’t get over the Bath and Body Works scents! I just bought some of their new winter ones and have been wearing Vanilla Bean Noel everyday for the past week!

Right now my favorite is Lola by Marc Jacobs. I received it as a present, and I don’t really like super floral perfumes, but this one really grew on me! It has a lot of other notes in it other than the floral scents. It’s super girly! And the bottle is beautiful. But my signature is I Love Love by Moschino. It’s really citrusy and good for daytime. The other perfume in my rotation is FCUK Her. The base is sandalwood, which I love. It’s kind of musky, and the scent is definitely supposed to be sexy. It’s one of my favorites.

I wear Coco Mademoiselle, by Chanel. The first time I smelled it, I thought to myself, that’s what I smell like. It’s sweet but tangy and light. It’s me :)
– Elyssa Goodman, Style Editor, Carnegie Melon alum

My favorite perfume right now is Viktor and Rolf’s Flowerbomb. It’s floral but still appropriate for fall, and I’ve found that the scent lasts longer than other perfumes I’ve worn which makes it great for a long day of class and extracurriculars.
– Meghan DeMaria, Contributing Writer, UNC Chapel Hill

I just got a new perfume from Victoria’s Secret PINK — It’s called “Fresh & Clean” and it smells subtle, but great.
– Jenni Whalen, Editorial Intern, Bucknell University

I tend to mix up my perfumes up fairly often, but lately I’ve been loving Victoria’s Secret Bombshell. It’s sexy but light enough to wear during the day.
– Kayla Riley, Contributing Writer, University of Maine

My go-to for the past few years has been Marc Jacob’s “Daisy.” It’s perfectly sweet, but not too overwhelming.
– Sarah Weinberg, Contributing Writer, San Diego State University

I wear Vera Wang Princess, Burberry Brit, and Viva La Juicy. I love all of these scents and alternate them based on my mood. It’s fun to switch things up and changing perfume is an easy way to do this.
– Erica Avesian, Contributing Writer, University of Michigan

I wear Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue. I love how clean and sexy it smells. I feel luxurious when I wear it…it’s not too overwhelming and people have asked me before what it was I was wearing!
– Christina Buttafuoco, Campus Correspondent, High Point University

I wear Chance by Chanel every day. I love that I get so many compliments on it! Also, I’ve been wearing it for so long that I can’t imagine “cheating” on it and trying something new.
Lauryn Paiva, Editorial Intern, Northeastern University

Ed Hardy, it just fits my personality.
– Kati Graber, Campus Correspondent, Franklin College

Burberry Brit has been my go-to for several years now. The original is perfect for winter, as it is a bit heavier, with a woodsy scent and vanilla undertones. Burberry Brit Sheer is great for spring and summer. It’s lighter and sweeter. Plus, the bottles have the signature Burberry plaid, and do double duty as perfume and decoration on my dresser.
– Molly Hess, Campus Correspondent, Franklin & Marshall

I love Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf. It has a sweet scent that somehow just works really well on me. People have come up to me and told me that I smell really good!
– Giselle Boresta, Campus Correspondent, Barnard College

I am Caroline Nawas and I am addicted to perfume. Once a month, I go on a new hunt for the perfect scent. My perfume of choice depends on my mood, the season, the event, what style I am wearing, etc. etc. You name it, I’ve tried it. But this is all changed when I started using Bond No. 9 NYC Highline. I have fallen in love. It is the perfect mix of floral but with a kick. I love that with only a few sprays, it stays on me all day long. No touching up necessary. Some more mornings I wake up at 9 a.m. and at an event that night I am still getting compliments. It only takes 2-3 sprays to get the perfect amount. People have stopped me in stores and on campus to ask me what perfume I use. I am telling you, it is the miracle scent. I even find that sometimes after I wash my clothes, there is a slight hint of it still on there. Not to mention, Bond No. 9 perfumes have these beautiful bottles that are fun to display! I continue to buy new perfumes for the fun of it, but since using Highline, nothing compares.

This summer I was given a free bottle of Justin Bieber’s Someday perfume through my internship. I would never have even thought to buy it for myself but since it was free and I thought it smelled good, I’ve been wearing it ever since. I get so many compliments on it; it’s crazy! I’ve had at least 3 guys tell me that I smelled great when I had it on. When I tell them it’s Justin Bieber, they think it’s hilarious!
– Laura Maddox, Campus Correspondent, Appalachian State University

I’ve been wearing DKNY Green Apple since high school and for me, it’s the perfect perfume. Not too strong, with a fresh, delicious scent. It’s awesome to wear for the day and going out at night!
– Jessica Salerno, Contributing Writer, Ohio University

I LOVE Purr by Katy Perry. Whenever I wear it I feel like I’m living a teenage dream. It is so sweet and
amazing smelling that I never feel like one of the boys. I feel like I smell like a firework that is about to burst!
– Alexandra Pannoni, Campus Correspondent, Towson University

I always wear Alien by Thierry Mugler. It is the last perfume you will ever want to wear. Not only does it last all day long, but it is so soft, smoky, and sexy that you will instantly have a mood-boost.
– Kate Byers, Campus Correspondent, Miami University
