Ciao ciao, collegiettes! As I write to you on this lovely afternoon, I am fresh off of finishing a rather facile Medieval Church midterm, if I do say so myself. While admittedly, preparing for an exam after an entire vacation semester of no work was slightly challenging, now that I am sitting here about to re-cap one of the most fantastic weekends ever, my late-night cram sesh seems entirely worth it.

As you have probably surmised from the title, this weekend was *sniff sniff* our last one in Florence! I know, right? Where the heck did the time go? I swear not five minutes ago I was lugging my over-sized and over-stuffed luggage up endless flights of, what seemed to me at the time, absolutely Medieval stairs. To commemorate such a memorable semester, Kristen & I did what we do best…went out on the town.

That’s us pre-gaming over at our favorite apartment, Via Maffia. As you read a couple of weeks ago, these days when we are not hauling our butts up death-valley to our Tuscan-Villa-of-a-campus, we are trekking across the Arno to spazztically ring the doorbell of all of our friends’ rooms, hoping someone will answer. Sad truth, I know.

All jokes aside, over the past month I think I have spent maybe six evenings in my own apartment. It’s actually gotten to the point that the teeny tiny Asia bottega right next door to the complex knows us immediatly upon entrance.

Back for your nightly bottle of 2 euro wine, ladies?

Yeah, I think we’ll make that two.

Anyways. Back to this weekend! Most of our nights were spent traversing about the city, soaking it all in for the last time. It was unseasonably warm these past couple of days, which was honestly a blessing in disguise, now that I am thinking about it. Do you know how much walking Kristen & I do when left to our own devices at night? I mean, you think I am directionally-impaired totally sober in the middle of the day. You should see where I wind up a bottle of Borgo bianco deep on a Tuesday Saturday night!

Lucky for me, our friends aren’t the complaining type. Not that there is much to whine about when “lost” means strolling past Santa Croce and people-watching the huddled groups of Italians kicking it on the steps.

To top it all of, this weekend we were accompanied by our newest companions here in Florence, our American friends’ soccer opponents. And by “opponents”, I mean the group of 18 year old Italian guys we’ve been hanging out with as of late, 3/4 of which are named “Lorenzo”…

Who says Kristen & I aren’t cultural?

But in all seriousness, collegiettes, we have such a freaking fantastic group of friends over here in bellissima Firenze…every night out with them is just an absolute blast. Honestly, it doesn’t matter whether we are lost in front of the Kebab place strolling through the streets, attempting broken Italian with the Lorenzos, or dancing like lunatics…Kristen & I will never forget our nights out with the Florence crew.

…Well, at least most of them… ;-)

Until next week, collegiettes!
