Football season is back, and this year, DoorDash is making sure college students get a little something special out of their game day traditions. Whether you’re watching your school’s biggest rivalry game from the student section, squeezing into your friend’s dorm room for a viewing party, or simply looking for an excuse to order food instead of cooking, game days have a way of becoming an all-day event. And while college football can be exciting, keeping up with the food, drinks, and plans that come with every Saturday can be expensive pretty quickly. Luckily, DoorDash is giving college students a reason to celebrate beyond the final score.
On Aug. 24, DoorDash announced its new football campaign, “Don’t Fan for Free,” which rewards fans for doing what they already love to do on Saturdays: watching football, ordering food, and cheering on their teams. The campaign includes weekly deals, sweepstakes, and some seriously big prizes, plus one offer that stands out for college students: free Student DashPass for one year.
As part of the campaign, DoorDash is also bringing football festivities directly to college campuses. The brand will be present at nine major matchup games this fall, including LSU vs. Clemson, Texas vs. Ohio State, USC vs. Oregon, Alabama vs. Georgia, Indiana vs. Ohio State, Michigan vs. Indiana, Florida vs. Oklahoma, Oregon vs. Michigan, and Ohio State vs. Michigan. At the events, fans can experience the DoorDash Transfer Portal, create custom merchandise, pick up game day gear, and look out for surprise drops. There will also be local sweepstakes with chances to win tickets, hospitality access, sideline passes, DoorDash gift cards, and other game day perks.
And because this is a football campaign, DoorDash is bringing some recognizable names along for the ride. Former college football stars Jameis Winston and Reggie Bush, as well as LSU football coach Lane Kiffin, are starring in the campaign’s promotional content.
So, if your ideal Saturday involves football, friends, and a DoorDash order, this season might actually give you something back.
Here’s How College Students Can Get Free DashPass
Let’s be honest: Being a college student can make ordering food feel like a luxury. Between tuition, textbooks, groceries, and everything else that somehow finds its way onto a student’s budget, those delivery fees can add up quickly. That’s where DoorDash’s football season offer comes in.
From Aug. 17 to Oct. 12, eligible college students who aren’t currently subscribed to DashPass can sign up for Free Student DashPass, which provides the Student DashPass benefits at $0 per month for one year. Students just have to verify their enrollment through SheerID, DoorDash’s verification partner. After the 12-month promotional period, the membership can be canceled at any time, or you can transition to a paid Student DashPass plan for $4.99 per month, or students can choose the annual student plan for $48 a year.
DoorDash Streaks Are Back
Starting Sept. 5, DoorDash is also bringing back Streaks, which rewards fans for ordering on Saturdays through the season. Fans who place qualifying orders with a $20 or more subtotal can work toward monthly milestones and automatically enter prize drawings.
September’s prize is already pretty big: Fans who complete four qualifying Saturday orders will be entered to win a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, while 1,000 other fans will receive a $250 DoorDash gift card to put toward their own game day spread.
A new prize will be available each month throughout the season, giving fans even more reasons to keep their streak alive. Fans who complete each month’s milestone will also be entered into the grand prize drawing of $757,500 toward the purchase of a home, plus a year’s supply of Dr. Pepper.
