It’s safe to say I’m a bit of a TV binge-watcher—I mean, what college student isn’t? From One Tree Hill to The O.C., I’ve seen all of the early 2000s teen dramas out there. Now that I’m getting a bit older, it’s time to expand my TV show repertoire beyond the Dawson versus Pacey dynamic I love.
Luckily, with Prime Video Channels, I can get unlimited access to channels like Epix, ALLBLK, Shudder, Sundance Now, and more for just $0.99 per month for the first year with my Prime Student Membership! While teen dramas will always hold a special place in my heart, here are the shows I’m looking forward to binging in 2022:
1. The Twilight Zone
Every year on New Year’s Day, my family binge-watches this show in our pajamas all day long. Now, it’s easier than ever because we can access it year-round with Prime Video Channels! TBH, this whole year has felt like an episode of The Twilight Zone.
2. Mad Men
Am I the only one whose parents love this show? From the 1960s fashion to all of the drama, this series is a classic for a reason. Follow along with Don Draper, an advertising mogul in 1960’s New York City, as he navigates life as one of the top ad men on Madison Avenue.
3. Schitt’s Creek
If you somehow didn’t manage to binge-watch this entire show over quarantine, now’s your chance. This hilarious and heartwarming comedy follows the lives of the Rose family, who fall from money and fame and land in the unassuming small town of Schitt’s Creek. You’ll laugh, cry, and probably start saying “Ew, David” at least once a day.
4. Hart of Dixie
Hart of Dixie has been on my “to-watch” list for a while. This heartwarming comedy stars Rachel Bilson (also known as Summer Roberts from The O.C.) as Dr. Zoe Hart, a New York City doctor who unexpectedly finds herself working at a doctor’s office in small-town Alabama. With a cast of lovable characters, medical mysteries, and a little romance, it’s like Gilmore Girls meets Grey’s Anatomy.
5. Zoey 101
Okay, maybe this isn’t a new show for me, but it’s one of my favorites. Something about watching Zoey and the gang at PCA brings back such nostalgic memories. Did anyone else make their own key necklace in elementary school or was that just me?
6. Pride and Prejudice
Even if you associate Pride and Prejudice with your high school summer reading, it’s a classic for a reason. Jane Austen’s timeless romance takes on a new life in this six-episode series.
7. iCarly
Believe it or not, I still haven’t gotten around to watching the iCarly reboot. This one is definitely on my binge list for this year. Who doesn’t want to see Carly and the gang reunited for the first time since 2012?
8. The Challenge: All Stars
This reality competition show on MTV is great for when you need a little excitement. Players face intense challenges for their chance to win a $500,000 cash prize. Add in a healthy dose of drama, and I promise you’ll be hooked.
9. Sabrina the Teenage Witch
The not-so-spooky inspiration behind The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, this show is a 90s and early 2000s classic. Watch as Sabrina Spellman tries to navigate the ups and downs of high school while harnessing her witch powers.
10. Twin Peaks
This suspenseful show follows the investigation of the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer in the small town of Twin Peaks. As the investigation unfolds, FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper realizes that no one is as innocent as they may appear.
11. Criminal Minds
I’m not going to lie, Criminal Minds has definitely kept me awake at night more often than not. It’s about a group of criminal profilers in the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit who investigate gruesome crimes. It’s hard to look away during an episode—partially because of the suspense and partially because of Reid, played by Matthew Gray Gubler.
12. Power Book II: Ghost
The sequel to Power, a crime drama series produced in collaboration with rapper 50 Cent, Power Book II: Ghost is a must-watch. Not only does it feature the talented Mary J. Blige, but it’s full of intense storylines, interesting characters, and more.
With no classes, no homework, and no exams to study for, winter break is the perfect time to check off some of the shows on your 2022 must-watch list. That means it’s also a great time to sign up for Prime Video Channels and get access to all of the series you’ve been wanting to watch! Don’t forget, you get your first 12 months for just $0.99 per month if you have a Prime Student Membership.
Now, put on your favorite loungewear set, grab a warm cup of coffee, and settle in for a binge-sesh!
