Most upcoming graduates know of the basic necessities for graduation: a cap and a gown. But there are a few other items that you might want to consider before the big day arrives, so you can properly  celebrate in your intelligence, dedication, and hard work of the past four (or so) years. Use this list to help you do some pre-graduation organization so you are completely prepared!

Invitations
This is your day, so celebrate! If you’re planning on having a party to commemorate all your hard work and have a blast with your friends and family then you want to make sure everyone gets the memo. Instead of just sending a text that might get lost in a jumble, send out invitations so people know exactly when and where to go for the party. You can take the traditional route and find card invitations to send by snail mail, or you can go the 21st century route and said e-mail invites. Whichever way you choose, make sure you find a way to send out your message.

Diploma Frame
Your diploma. It’s what you have been working towards receiving your entire time at college! This piece of nicely decorated paper is physical proof of the knowledge you have gained through your studies in college, so treat it like the important thing it is. By framing your diploma you can be assured that it will be protected and admired by others, just the way it should. There are many different kinds of diploma frames, so choose one that fits you! You’ve worked hard, and that hard work has paid off. So be proud and show off your diploma.

Camera
You’ve been working away at your college degree for the past few years, and most likely you’ve had some photo documentation along the way. So don’t miss out on capturing your final day as an undergraduate student. Luckily, most phones have great cameras built into them, so if you have your phone then you can automatically have a nice camera too! Point and shoot cameras are a great option too, and most of them are small enough to put in a pocket or in a purse. But even if you personally don’t have any way to capture the moment, find someone else who has a camera and at least grab one shot of you in your cap and gown!

Photo Album
Speaking of pictures, what a better way to store them after graduation than in a photo album! You don’t have to be super crafty to make a good looking collage of photos. Even with just a simple photo album you can have a place to store photos from graduation day, the end of college, or any other time. You can also place them chronologically so you don’t have to worry later down the road about remembering what happened and when. Some companies will print your pictures in a book for you, and others have a plastic sleeve that the pictures go in, protecting them from getting damaged. So take some time and take care of your pictures so you can look back at this important day for many years to come.

When not staying busy with journalism or French classes, she can be found working out at the gym with the BU club gymnastics team, teaching swim lessons at the pool, and always drinking lots of coffee. As a member of BU’s Kappa Delta chapter, she loves being involved on campus and getting to know as many people as she can. She is so happy to have a chance to work with the Her Campus team, and she can’t wait to see what the future has in store for her!
