What Wine You Should Drink This Galentine’s, Based on Your Zodiac Sign

Some women fall in line with Lorelai and Rory, who were always guzzling coffee by the gallon on Gilmore Girls, while others emulate the ladies from Sex and The City, spending their nights sipping cosmos, but maybe you’re really just into wine. Just like how your zodiac sign can say a lot about who you are, your go-to wine can do the same. When you find yourself empty-handed on the way to your Galentine’s Day celebrations, pull into the nearest store and grab a bottle of wine from the list below – all of which can be found for $10 or less, because we’re all about balling on a budget.

Aries

As an Aries, you’re competitive, bold and irresistibly confident. You need a fruity flavored wine like malbec to match your energy — easy going down and a real crowd pleaser. Three sips in and you and the girls will already be looking for a way to incorporate karaoke into your night’s plans.

Taurus

With a deep love for all things familiar and comfortable, Taurus pair well with a glass of pinot noir. Not only does it have fewer calories than white wines, (yes, this means you can eat more chocolate-covered strawberries) but it also wows with raspberry, tobacco and chocolate undertones. Pinot noir is practically made for Valentine’s Day.

Gemini

Gemini are multifaceted and they enjoy the benefits of being both serious and social. Likewise, pinot grigio hosts both dry and fresh citrus flavors. If you bring a bottle of pinot to your Galentine’s party, you’ll truly be living the best of both worlds.

Cancer

Cancers are all about making everyone feel happy and welcome. Heck, the Galentine’s party is probably at your house! You put others first so, at the end of the day, you need a sweet reprieve like a glass or two of riesling to take your mind off your endless responsibilities.

Leo

Summers are for the Leos, so it only makes sense for you to be sipping on an equally fun, playful and summery blend of rosé. If you’re looking to be the center of attention on Galentine’s, (let’s face it, you definitely are) then pop open a sparkling bottle of rosé and prepare for a sugar-induced hangover!

Virgo

Virgos are loving and practical and they typically believe that if something isn’t broken, you shouldn’t fix it. You prefer something classic so, of course, chardonnay should be your beverage of choice. Its oaky flavor, with hints of pear or apple, is the only logical choice. No overthinking tonight, Virgos!

Libra

As a Libra, balancing the scales is of the utmost importance, so Lambrusco is on the menu for you. Its dry bite provides the perfect mix of sweet and acidic, and it’s known to bring people together – which pairs well with a Galentine’s Day get-together.

Scorpio

Scorpios can be a little complex, meaning you probably prefer chats about conspiracy theories and the fate of the universe rather than discussions about last week’s bad weather. With that said, only the smoky flavor of Syrah will match your intense personality. Fortune favors the bold, right?

Sagittarius

Sagittarius are intellectual travelers, so they need a drink like Merlot to keep them grounded from their gallivanting. Merlot fosters a wide range of flavors and pairs well with just about anything. Sound familiar, Sagittarius?

Capricorn

Capricorns work hard, but they play even harder. After a long day of slaying at the office, you’ll surely need a to unwind with the girls and a sweet glass of zinfandel. Its fruity flavors boast surprising hints of spice and licorice.

Aquarius

Like an Aquarius, cabernet sauvignon has no intention of holding back. With its dry taste and bold, fruity undertones—think blackberry or plum — cabernet sauvignon aligns perfectly with your undeniable confidence. This wine isn’t for beginners, so warn your girls before serving it up.

Pisces

Pisces are the sweetest of them all, and what better wine for you to sip than moscato? It’s practically candy in a bottle, which can be addictive for a hopeless romantic like yourself. So, try not to guzzle it down Real Housewives style, unless you want a nasty hangover the next morning.

Tawnie Simpson is a Senior Editing, Writing, and Media student at Florida State University. She enjoys (needs) a good cup of cold brew, she comes from a small town nobody knows called "about an hour south of Tampa" and she is often mistaken for 10-year-old Lindsay Lohan, but she's not complaining.
