What it’s Like to Have Seasonal Allergies

April showers bring May flowers, and May flowers bring itchy noses, watery eyes and congestion! Allergy season is in full swing, and, if you’re like us, you aren’t a fan of pollen (or grass, or dust) these days. No matter what you’re allergic to (if you’re not allergic to anything, then just go away), the symptoms tend to suck. At least you have us to commiserate with!

1. You love the outdoors but hate the fact that your face feels like it’s swelling up every time you leave the house.

2. Even pictures of flowers make you sneeze.

3. When you wake up with your eyes basically swollen shut, it’s really just another day in the life.

4. Your nightstand is packed with NyQuil, Vicks, Claritin and Sudafed… and nothing else.

5. “Non-drowsy” medications still tend to make you feel like you’re always on the verge of passing out in public.

6. Wearing mascara is basically a joke because you’ll itch it off throughout the day anyway.

7. You get the feeling that the people you work with will probably assassinate you if you blow your nose one more time, so every five minutes you have to go outside to sneeze.

8. Your SO keeps asking if you’re tired/sad/angry… but really, your face is just all smooshed up from going outside for 30 seconds.

9. The smell of mowed grass is wonderful until it results in an itching/cough fest (starring: you).

10. At least it’s not a food allergy?

11. Putting in eye drops basically feels like stabbing your pupil with a shard of glass.

12. You really want to go for a run outside, but you know you’ll only make it a mile before your nasal cavities are like “nope” and swell shut.

13. You have your own collection of “naughty” words: birch, oak, pollen, dust and grass are just a few.

14. People give you weird-ass methods for getting rid of allergies, and you’re just like

15. Once allergy season is over and your face looks normal again, you feel like the most beautiful human in the world.

We’re pulling for you, girls! And by pulling, we mean taking another Allegra and going to take a nap.
