Lose the Freshman 15: My Summer Plans!

Hey collegiettes!  I am finally home!  I cannot believe that my first-year of college is over– time truly flies!  Now that I am done with schoolwork, I have so much more free time, which feels GREAT.  Here’s how I plan on spending that time:

  • Running!  With the warm weather, I definitely plan on going for lots of runs outside.  It’ll be a lot easier to find different routes to try in my home town than it was in Amherst.  If there’s rain or bad weater, I have a treadmill at home, so I’ll still be able to get my run in!
  • Working– This summer, I’ll be working at a summer camp and at the GAP.  I’ve never worked in retail before, so I’m really excited to be a sales associate and try something new.  I’ve been working at the same summer camp for the past four years, so it’ll be nice to go back to that and see all my fellow counselors again!
  • Playing tennis– Now that I’m home, I am able to play more tennis, which is great because I’ve really missed the sport while I’ve been at college.  My dad loves tennis, so I’m definitely going to be hitting with him a lot, and I also hope some of my friends will up to play too!  Tennis is a sport that I recommend everybody try because it’s a game you can play for your life.  Plus you only need one another person to play!
  • Playing squash– After taking squash lessons at college, I realized how much I enjoyed the game, so I signed up for lots of squash camps and for more private lessons.  That’s what great about trying new things– you might encounter something you truly love!  So don’t be afraid to try a new activity!  While it may be a little intimidating or uncomfortable at first, you may end up having a lot of fun with it.  There are so many ways you can stay active, why not try as many as you can?
  • Reconnecting with friends– It will be SO nice to hang out with my friends at home again.  I’ve missed them all so much, so I can’t wait to see them!
  • Pinterest DIY– There are so many fun crafts to do on Pinterest, but I’ve never had the time to try any of them while I’ve been at school, so now’s the time!  Check out my DIY board to see what I plan on doing.  Feel free to check out my Health and Fitness board too!
  • Going to the gym– Now that I’m home, I no longer have access to a gym.  I am thinking about getting a membership to one of the local gyms, so I can keep up with my workouts!  Gyms also offer a lot of fitness classes, which could be fun to try!

While I am definitely so excited for this summer, I also have to remember to stay on the diet!  I will probably be eating a lot more fresh fruit, which is GREAT, but I also will be tempted to eat a lot more ice cream, which is DANGEROUS.  However, I am confident I can stick to the diet by remembering my own tips on how to resist temptation.  One good source of motivation to stay fit during the summer is to buy a new bathing suit!

Hope you all are enjoying your summer!

Until Wednesday

xoxo
