A turbulent start to Spring Break

I’m blogging from Miami, Florida, where I am on spring break with my roommate Becca! As you may have read, Thursday night/Friday morning I was frantically trying to finish up everything at school before leaving for my trip! My trip got off to a somewhat turbulent start…

After getting less than two hours of sleep Thursday night because of all the things I had to do, I then had the worst flight EVER to Miami. The beginning of the flight was fine, but then as we approached Miami, there were thunderstorms in the area, so the flight got SUPER turbulent. On top of that, we couldn’t land because of the weather, so we had to stay in the air circling for an extra two hours. It was so turbulent that almost everyone on the plane (including me) was throwing up, and because of the turbulence the stewardesses couldn’t even come by to help, and people weren’t allowed to get up to go to the bathroom. So people were throwing up all over the place, babies were screaming, and the plane was jerking around violently. At one point my roommate Becca was the only one in our row NOT throwing up! Then when we finally landed two hours late, we had to stay in the plane for almost another hour because the gate was full! I think it was literally the worst flight I have ever been on.

Then when we finally got out of the plane, I had to get onto my laptop to deal with some urgent HC stuff, so I then sat on my laptop working at the airport on two hours of sleep and with negative food in my stomach. Eventually Becca and I left the airport and got to where we are staying, then mobilized to go out to dinner and get some groceries. The rest of last night was somewhat less chaotic but we were just so exhausted and felt so sick!

Then today we slept until 2pm (amazing), ate lunch, I went running, showered, then had a fun night: we went to the Aventura Mall and ate dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and then saw the movie Valentine’s Day. We have been trying to see this movie for the past month and finally succeeded! It was a fun movie and we both liked it.

Now we feel settled in, the weather is amazing, and we have caught up on sleep. We’ll be here for a whole week which should be really relaxing and a much-needed break. I’m just hoping the flight back is a little less turbulent!!

Here I am at the Cheesecake Factory tonight- we ordered frozen peach bellinis which were delicious!
