‘Stranger Things’ Is Getting Companion Books This Fall & I’m So Excited

I’ve been suffering from some major Stranger Things withdrawal since finishing the second season in like a day. But we just got some really good news—Deadline has announced that Penguin Random House is partnering with Netflix on a publishing deal to release books based on the insanely popular Netflix series.

The first two books are set to be released this fall and they include a behind-the-scenes companion book titled Stranger Things: World Turned Upside Down: The Official Behind-The-Scenes Companion, and an untitled hardcover gift book for young readers which will offer “advice, wisdom, and warnings from the Stranger Things world.”. There are no details yet on what to expect from the companion book, but if I had to guess, it will probably feature photos and secrets from set and interviews with cast and creators about the creation of the show.

There are also plans for more books going into 2019, including a prequel novel next spring written by author Gwenda Bond. The novel will follow Eleven’s mother and the MKUltra program, meaning it’s basically everything Stranger Things fans have been waiting for.

This publishing deal with Penguin Random House is a worldwide deal. The books will originally release under U.S. and British Commonwealth publishing teams Del Rey Books, Random House Children’s Books, Cornerstone Publishing, and Penguin Random House Children’s UK. Additional territories and international imprints will follow. The books will also be adapted into audiobooks to be published by Penguin Random House Audio.

The arrival of the first books will hopefully fill the gap for fans while they wait for the long-anticipated season 3 of the Netflix hit, which is likely to drop sometime in early 2019.
