Netflix Is Transforming 200 Coffee Shops Into Luke’s Diner for a Day

Lorelai and Rory Gilmore would totally approve of this. True Gilmore Girls fans not only know that the mother-daughter duo is as coffee-obsessed as they come, but that the series premiered on October 5, 2000. That would make this Wednesday, October 5, the 16th anniversary of Gilmore Girls. *short pause for the praise and hallelujahs you know you want to give up*

In honor of the momentous occasion, Netflix is transforming 200 coffee shops across the country (and even Canada!) into Luke’s Diner for a day. Participating locations will also hand out 250 free—yes, FREE, every collegiette’s favorite word—cups of coffee between the hours of 7 a.m. and 12 p.m.

The actual Luke Danes may not be on hand to serve you that delicious dose of caffeine, but there will be fun homages to the series, like branded aprons and T-shirts and a goodie hiding under your Gilmore Girls coffee sleeve.

What better way to celebrate the beginning and the return of this classic television show that has a permanent place in our hearts? To see if “Luke’s Coffee Day” is coming to a coffee shop near you, check out the list of participating locations here.
