Melissa McCarthy Throws Major Shade at the ‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival

Being part of a TV show for seven seasons should be an indicator that you would be invited back for the revival of the show you once starred on. But for Melissa McCarthy, it looks like circumstances were quite the opposite. One fan took to Twitter to ask the Mike and Molly star if she would be coming back to revive her role as Sookie St. James in the new Gilmore Girls show on Netflix, and her reply left us all a little heartbroken.

Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino opened up to TVLine, saying, “She’s really f–king busy…But the thing I have said [to her team] is, ‘Look, if Melissa is available and has an afternoon free, I’ll write her a scene. Melissa was one of us. If she has a spare moment to run over [to the set] — even if for just a cameo — we would be totally game. And if it’s a last-minute thing, I would write her in and we would figure it out. That’s the way we left it.”

Will McCarthy take time off from filming her TV show and upcoming movies to make a cameo appearance on the show? Hopefully they will write her into a few scenes and we can take a trip down memory lane, as she rejoins Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel in Stars Hollow.
