Dean From ‘The Bachelorette’ Clarifies That His Father Isn’t ‘Eccentric’ Because He’s Sikh

If you’ve been keeping up with The Bachelorette this season, you’ve probably grown to love Dean Unglert. I mean, who couldn’t? Besides being the youngest remaining contestant, he’s shown himself to be an honest and kind gentleman. It’s also hard to ignore Dean’s adorable dimples and shy demeanor on camera. Even when a fan had a negative reaction to a comment Dean made in the hometowns preview, he responded with obvious sincerity.

In the short clip, Dean’s father is shown wearing a dastar, the traditional headwrap worn by people of the Sikh faith. Despite being excited to bring Rachel home, Dean appears anxious because of what he’s called his father’s “eccentric” behavior.

Responding to Dean’s vague comment, Twitter user Jasneet Dulai wrote, “Love you on #TheBachelorette but using the word ‘eccentric’ to describe your Sikh dad is kind of insulting to Sikhs like me :(.”

Of course, the 25-year-old took to social media to clarify and dispel confusion about his beliefs. “I understand what you mean. His eccentric behavior is not a product of his Sikh faith. I didn’t mean for it to come across like that,” he tweeted.

Dean’s willingness to clear up his statement’s true intention won over Jasneet. She replied, “Thanks Dean – This is why you’re my fave on the show!”

I’m right there with you, Jasneet! #TeamDean
