Zayn Malik Says He Doesn’t Want To Label His Relationship With Gigi Hadid & I’m A Little Confused

It seemed everyone’s world was turned upside down when Zayn Malik and model Gigi Hadid split back in March. Though it was hard to hear, it seemed the split didn’t last terribly long when the two were spotted smooching in NYC back in April. Fast forward to right now, where Zayn doesn’t deny he and Gigi are seeing each other, but refuses to label it. It’s weird, right? If they were a new duo, I could see the decision to be casual, but Zigi was a thing for *two* years. What’s the deal?

It seems that Zayn feels compelled to follow his heart, which I can respect. He told GQ in his recent cover story interview that they are “adults” and are going to make their own decisions surrounding their relationship. “We don’t need to put a label on it, make it something for people’s expectations,” he told the magazine. It’s confusing for all of us, of course, considering they were serious for so long. I guess it makes sense for the two to do what works for them and if they want to just hang out, then so be it, as long as they’re happy.

Zayn is still definitely smitten though, which is too cute. “I’m really thankful that I met her,” he told the interviewer, who mentioned Malik uses present tense when talking about Gigi a lot, providing examples such as: “We go to the farm.” “We have horses.” (They do, BTW. A horse named “Cool,” which makes so much sense). Though he said they aren’t labeling it, Zayn called Gigii a friend later in the interview, reassuring everyone they’re on good terms. “We’re still really good friends, and we’re still in contact,” he says. “No bad blood.” Hmmm.

Regardless of what happens, I have faith that Zayn and Gigi will always have some sort of connection, which makes me happy. How they end up is unknown for now, but I wouldn’t be shocked if this casual, non-labeled relationship goes back to Zigi real soon.
