Despite being nominated for both this year’s Critics Choice Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards, Wonder Woman received exactly zero Oscar nominations on Tuesday.
Superhero movies definitely aren’t award frontrunners; however, many thought that Wonder Woman would at least receive a nod in the Directing, Visual Effects or Costumes categories. Patty Jenkins was the first ever female director of an American studio superhero movie.
The film didn’t do too bad, either — it was just the highest-grossing superhero origin movie of all time, bringing in more than $800 million. NO BIG DEAL.
Twitter, as always, responded accordingly.
