‘Wizards Of Waverly Place’ Fans Are Hoping Bridget Mendler Will Appear In The Sequel

It feels like 2010 again because Wizards of Waverly Place is being talked about for a big reason. ICYMI, a Wizards of Waverly Place sequel was announced on Jan. 18 and Gen Zers are so excited. There’s no word on when we’re getting the new series, but it’s currently in production. The original Wizards of Waverly Place, starring Selena Gomez, ran on Disney Channel from 2007 to 2012 and is considered a classic among those who grew up in the 2000s and 2010s.

The upcoming sequel will follow Justin Russo (played by David Henrie) living a quiet, suburban life with his wife and two kids.

Of course, fans are excited to see the Russo family back together (Selena Gomez will guest appear in the sequel). But some are wondering if fan-favorite characters will make appear on the show. One character fans really want to see Juliet. Those who watched Wizards of Waverly Place are likely very familiar with Juliet (played by Bridget Mendler) as she was Justin’s vampire girlfriend. With the news of Justin having a wife and two kids in the upcoming sequel, many fans can’t help but wonder: Is Juliet Justin’s wife?

The romance between Justin and Juliet started in Season Two when a new sandwich shop opened on Waverly Place and Justin went to spy. He ended up meeting the owners’ daughter, Juliet van Hausen. The two quickly developed feelings for each other and Justin eventually asked Juliet out on a date.

Everything was good for the couple until Juliet became enslaved by a mummy and was forced to go away. Juliet and Justin eventually find their way back to each other when he and the Russos track her down in Transylvania, but the joy was short-lived when Alex’s boyfriend Mason (played by Gregg Sulkin) declared that he’d never stopped loving her and turns her into a 2,194-year-old. Thankfully, Juliet returned a year later and the series ended with her and Justin back together.

Following her role on Wizards of Waverly Place, Mendler achieved a lot in her life. From 2010-2014, she starred as Teddy Duncan on  the Disney Channel show, Good Luck Charlie. She also was one of the leads of the Disney Channel film, Lemonade Mouth.

In addition to acting, Mendler also made her musical debut in 2012 with her album, Hello My Name Is… which featured hit singles, “Ready or Not,” “Hurricane,” and “Top of the World.” In 2016, she released her EP, Nemesis.

Mendler has also been focused on her education. In 2016, she graduated from USC with a degree in anthropology. In 2018, she announced that she started a graduate program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a focus on improving social media. In 2019, it was revealed that she enrolled in a class at Harvard Law School. She got her graduate degree from MIT in 2020 and is now working on her Ph.D with the MIT’s center for Constructive Communications and Social Machines group. She’s concurrently enrolled at Harvard and MIT.

Given how hard Mendler’s been working on her education, the possibility of her appearing as Juliet in the Wizards of Waverly Place spinoff seems slim, but fans aren’t giving up hope that they’ll see Justin and Juliet together again.

As of right now, we don’t know if Mendler will reprise her iconic role, but I sure hopes she does. In the meantime, I’ll will be rewatching Wizards of Waverly Place and swooning over Justin and Juliet’s love story.
