On Oct. 21, it was announced that a Glee reboot is coming to Disney+ and Hulu. (I screamed.) The news comes over 10 years after the last episode of series creator Ryan Murphy’s musical fever dream aired on FOX, and I (as well as many other Gleeks) have one question on my mind: Who from the original Glee cast is returning to the reboot?
Gleeks have been theorizing about a reboot for quite some time. Back in September 2026, Murphy told Entertainment Tonight that he (alongside his co-writers for Seasons 1 and 2, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan) had finished the script for a prospective reboot, saying, “I’ve been in touch with around 10 of the original cast members. It’s very sweet, and they all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea.”
Since then, the internet has been frantic, searching for any clues pointing to a reboot of the 2010s camp classic. And when news of the reboot was officially announced, Gleeks everywhere began theorizing about who would be reprising their roles. And, as it turns out, some major players are already set to come back to the RMCU. (The Ryan Murphy Cinematic Universe. Duh.)
Lea Michele is coming back as Rachel Berry.
The icon we love, hate, or love to hate is coming back to the choir room. Shortly after news of the Glee revival went viral, Variety reported that Lea Michele would be reprising the role of Rachel Berry in the reboot, according to various sources. “It’s still early-ish days, but it feels good and we’re happy to get the band back together,” a source told Variety about Michele’s return.
Michele also told E! News in September that she would definitely return to the series. “I love Glee. I will always love Glee,” she said. “I love Ryan Murphy. It just holds such a special place in my heart for me… I will follow Ryan wherever he goes.”
Who else from the Glee original cast is coming back for the reboot?
Right now, Michele is the only confirmed cast member returning to the reboot — though that’s not to say that fans are completely in the dark. On Oct. 21, Chord Overstreet (who played Sam Evans) sent out a single tweet after the reboot was announced that had fans spiraling:
Additionally, Heather Morris, who played Brittany S. Pierce, also teased her return to the show on Instagram, writing, “Yes ladies and gentle men of women, rumors are true. Brittany S Pierce was in fact lost in the sewers for all these years. But I’m here to inform you that she is alive and well…And back for more.”
Recently, members of the cast have been reconnecting left and right — such as Amber Riley and Harry Shum Jr. (who played Mercedes Jones and Mike Chang) reuniting on Dancing With The Stars, and Chris Colfer and Darren Criss (who played Kurt Hummel and Blaine Anderson, a beloved couple on the show) singing on stage together at Criss’s Royal Albert Hall concert in London in October.
And, of course, fans caught on.
And that’s what you missed on… Glee!
