Vote for the Roommate of the Year!

Roommates: they can be the difference between looking forward to going home every day and wishing you could just pitch a tent in your office.

A few weeks ago, HC told you about the Apartments.com Roommate of the Year video contest.  Well, now the finalists have been chosen and it’s up to us to determine the winner by voting! There are 12 finalists in the All-Star Roomie category and one each in the Purr-fect Pet Owner and Evironmentalist categories.  One extraordinary roommate will win the incredible grand prize: a year of free rent, $10,000, and a year’s membership to freecreditscore.com. Four runners-up will receive $500.

The winners will be determined by both the public vote (60%) and an impartial panel (40%).  Videos should be judged on their “originality and creativity, overall wow factor, persuasive argument and style and production.”  You can vote for your favorite video once every day until July 31st.

The finalists’ videos range from raps to skits to commercial parodies, but all have the same overarching theme: these people are the best roommates EVER, for REAL, and they’re not kidding around.  They’re also hilarious.  I dare you not to laugh out loud (or at least chuckle under your breath) at Bryce M.’s “Roommate Rescue” skit or bob your head to the musical stylings of Alex G. in “Your Room Just Found a Mate.”

Sounds like a great contest, right?  Check out the videos and vote here!  You get to watch funny videos, and if the person you vote for wins, then you’ve just changed someone’s life for the better.  That’s a chance I’m happy to take!
