Vampire Diaries Couple Goes Public at MMVA’s

The Vampire Diaries’ Elena and Damon aren’t the only couple taking their relationship to new heights. The actors who play them, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder, made their first official appearance as an off-screen romantic duo at last Sunday’s Much Music Video Awards.

Somerhalder, 32, and Dobrev, 22, have reportedly been dating for a year, but chose not to publicly acknowledge their relationship  until now. The couple arrived together at the Canadian awards show in Toronto.

“Who am I most excited to see tonight? Nina Dobrev!” Somerhalder said in an interview.

Later, the couple joined MMVA host Selena Gomez onstage to present the “Ur Fave Artist Award” to Canadian pop star Justin Bieber.

Fellow TVD star Kat Graham also made an appearance at the MMVA’s. Dobrev’s other on-screen love interest, Paul Wesley, did not attend.

In May, Dobrev and Somerhalder were spotted vacationing in Paris together.

The couple, whose on-screen characters shared their much-anticipated first kiss in TVD’s Season 2 finale, will return to the CW’s supernatural drama this fall, on September 13.
