ICYMI Here’s How We Hosted The Ultimate Virtual Nintendo Switch Game Night

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

I’ll be the first to say that I love a good game night. The thrill of gathering with friends and family while competing to win — there’s nothing quite like it. In case you missed it, we recently teamed up with Nintendo to bring you The Ultimate Virtual Nintendo Switch Game Night on Thursday, December 10th! This epic event was hosted by Her Campus Media co-founder Annie Wang, along with Krysta Yang from Nintendo of America and Tanna Wasilchak from the InfluenceHer Collective.

Throughout the 1-hour broadcast, our host and her special guests played three of our favorite Nintendo games, including Mario Kart™ 8 Deluxe, Ring Fit Adventure™, and Animal Crossing™: New Horizons! In between games, they shared tips and tricks for how to level up your gaming experience, from fun accessories to choosing the best character for your challenge (psst, Yoshi seemed to be a fan favorite).

We know staying connected with friends can be tricky this year, but gaming can be an awesome way to keep in touch. Our co-founder Annie grew up playing games with her family, so this virtual Nintendo Switch game night felt extra special for her. “Gaming has been a wonderful way for me to stay connected to my friends and family even when I can’t see them in person,” she shared with attendees. “It’s been such a nice way to escape, relax, and unwind. That’s what tonight is all about!”

To kick off the event, Krysta Yang, a longtime gaming fan who is now the Senior Manager of Influencer Marketing and Original Content at Nintendo, shared with attendees why she loves the Nintendo Switch™ system. “I’ve been a fan of video games my whole life — I’ve owned probably every Nintendo system ever made!” she said. “It’s a system that you can take on-the-go wherever you want, from your living room to the park to the car. The portability is my absolute favorite part of the system.”

Our hosts also chatted about the Nintendo Switch Lite system, which is ideal if you love playing in handheld mode and gaming on-the-go. Krysta shared that she especially loves this version: “It comes in four really cute colors — the coral one is my personal favorite — and you can play games that support handheld mode.” Tanna, a digital content creator from the InfluenceHer Collective loves Nintendo Switch Lite, too: “I’ll sit on my couch with my new puppy, and we’ll play the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game together! I even take it with me when I travel — I’ll throw it in my purse because it’s so easy to take with you.” We love gaming gear that’s cute, convenient, and puppy-approved!

One of my favorite parts of the virtual game night was when Tanna demonstrated how to use the Ring-Con™, a fun accessory used for the Ring Fit Adventure game that responds to your real-life movements, allowing the game to turn them into in-game actions. In Ring Fit Adventure, you can traverse grass-swept plains by jogging in place or even refill your health meter by doing yoga and other customizable workout routines. Meaning, if you love game night but don’t love sitting on the couch, Ring Fit Adventure can help you squeeze in some active play! As someone who’s new to gaming but appreciates being active, Ring Fit Adventure may have to go on my holiday wish list.

Whether you’re totally new to gaming like me or you’ve got every Mario Kart course memorized, the Nintendo Switch system is a versatile and fun way to jumpstart your at-home gaming experience. As part of our virtual event, we even announced the winner of our epic giveaway, who scored a brand-new Nintendo Switch system along with all three games shown in the event! Trust me, after watching this epic replay, you’ll want to snag one, too.

We had such a blast joining our co-hosts for a night of fun and community-building at The Ultimate Virtual Nintendo Switch Game Night. Here’s to a happy holiday season and staying connected through games!

Additional games, systems and/or accessories may be required for multiplayer mode. Games, systems and some accessories sold separately.
