And in my opinion, there’s a reason #ToTheSalon has over 326 million views on TikTok — it’s whimsical, wholesome, and everything your creative dreams are made of.
If you come across the #ToTheSalon trend on TikTok, you’ll hear a bubbly, optimistic voice saying, “It’s really not that bad. It just needs a little…shaping!” followed by a series of giggles and a triumphant, “to the salon!” The trending audio can be traced to a scene from Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse, a 2012 animated series that admittedly, I have not watched — but apparently, many TikTokers were obsessed with at one point. In one segment called “Ken-tastic Hair-tastic” — a title I’m 100% here for — Ken shows up for a date with Barbie with an absolutely outrageous flow, and Barbie is not having it in the slightest. She immediately takes him #ToTheSalon for a quick hair fix, works her magic, and after tolerating Ken’s dramatic screaming (hands-down my favorite part of the audio), his look is resolved in no time.
