Tinder Messaging Just Got Way More Fun

Rejoice, Tinder users—The app’s latest update allows you to send GIFs in your messages. Not convinced this will save your life? Watch the video below to see a mohawked boy stress out over the perfect message for his match before finding a way to say it all with GIF (hint: “saying it all” involves a lot of eyebrow wagging)!

Using GIFs is especially easy, too. There’s a blue button labeled “GIF” next to the box where you type a message, and upon opening it, there are typically “introductory” GIFs.

However, you’re not limited to whatever GIFs initially pop up. In fact, you have access to GIPHY’s entire library, with a search option included. So get ready for your online dating life to become a ongoing personalized listicle.

Sean Rad, Tinder CEO, said in a statement, “At Tinder, we’re on a mission to create more meaningful connections. With that in mind, we’re excited to give our users more ways to engage with each other and express themselves. We’re tapping into the hugely popular trend of GIFs, powered by GIPHY, and allowing users to interact with potential dates in a more nuanced and compelling way than with verbal language alone.”

The app’s update also included the ability to upload photos to your profile from your camera roll, instead of just from Facebook.

Needless to say, we’re ready to start swiping.
