After announcing a fourth High School Musical movie this week, Disney hit us with the sad truth that the original cast will not be reprising their roles—as far as we know. Instead, this reboot will introduce us to a whole new cast of characters. Without further ado, let us introduce you to East High’s newest Wildcats.
First, there’s Campbell. An amazing soccer player and theater guy, Campbell is the reincarnation of Troy Bolton. He’s cousin to East High theatrical alums Sharpay and Ryan Evans. Much like Troy, Campbell will end up falling head over heels for a girl.
Which brings us to Erin. Remember how we told you Campbell is the star of the soccer team? Well, Erin happens to be the only girl on the boys’ soccer team. So, naturally, Campbell is drawn to her. But, unlike with Troy and Gabriella’s flawless matching, there seems to be another guy in the mix.
In a twist we probably all saw coming, Derek also plays soccer, but he’s considered the bad boy of the group. Like most cinematic bad boys, though, Derek has a soft side. In other words, he’s a dance instructor for young girls when he’s not busy playing soccer or going to school. No wonder Erin is into him. Spoiler alert: we might be, too!
Then, there’s Nathalie—a cheerleader for East High who also happens to be Erin’s best friend.
Finally, keep your eye on Tamara. She just might be the new Sharpay of the bunch. Basically, Tamara was once the most popular girl at East High. At some point, she fell off the radar, though, which might explain why she’s climbing her way back to the top. Much like Sharpay, Tamara is willing to do whatever it takes to be popular.
They might not be the Wildcats we grew up loving, but as long as they can get our heads in the game, they’re cool with us. Â
