Um, Twitter Thinks This Taylor Song Is About Scooter Braun

If there’s one thing Taylor Swift can do, it’s write a killer diss track. Ms. Swift has made a name for herself in the past by writing songs about her exes (literally me in middle school), but more recently, Blondie has been spilling the tea on other people who may have wronged her. And on her new album, Midnights, which was released on Oct. 21, people think her song “Vigilante Sh*t” is about none other than Scooter Braun.

Swift and Braun go way back. You may remember their public 2019 feud regarding the rights to Swift’s music — which Braun owned the entirety of. This led to Swift re-releasing her old music that’s owned by Braun, as a way to regain autonomy over her music. You know, “Taylor’s Version.”

But Taylor Swift is the absolute master of revenge. And in “Vigilante Sh*t,” she’s absolutely roasting the subject of the song — boasting about being “thick as thieves” with the subject’s ex-wife. Granted that Braun recently divorced Yael Cohen in 2021, and the history between the two, Twitter is theorizing that this revenge track is all about Braun.

Twitter users have been quick to connect Braun to several of the lyrics in “Vigilante Sh*t.” For example, Swift writes “Well, he was doin’ lines and crossin’ all of mine, someone told his white collar crimes to the FBI,” which could relate to the shady business deals regarding Swift’s discography while working with Braun. Additionally, according to Twitter users, the line “thick as thieves” could allude to the fact that Braun is an investor in the company “100 thieves,” as well as in reference to his $200M fraud lawsuit in June 2021.

Fans have also theorized that the song is about Swift’s well-known beef with Kanye West, but others believe that her feud with West related more to her track “Karma.” Regardless, let’s just say Twitter is having a field day with this one.

Honestly, this is like Reputation 2.0 — and I’m here for it. Keep spillin’ the tea, Blondie!
