Less than a year ago, Taylor Swift released her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. Then, in June 2026, she released a song for Toy Story 5, âI Knew It, I Knew You.â And of course, in July, Swift tied the knot with Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden. (Weâre all still eagerly waiting for the photos to drop.) But despite Swifties being fed, they may just be getting more from the pop star. Thereâs a new theory, thanks to Swiftâs Spotify account, that Debut (Taylorâs Version) is on the way.
Swift confirmed in 2025 that despite buying back her masters, she rerecorded her debut album, Taylor Swift, and will likely release it. She stated in a letter to fans, âIâve already completely re-recorded my entire debut album, and I really love how it sounds now. [Debut and reputation] can still have their moments to re-emerge when the time is right, if that would be something you guys would be excited about.â Of course, this was something fans were very excited about, and have been asking for ever since. Swift, being the queen of Easter eggs, has left fans searching for clues that Taylorâs Version of the album may be released soon.
“I Knew It, I Knew You” is a Country Song
One reason fans are speculating that Debut (TV) might be coming sooner than we think is because her recent release, âI Knew It, I Knew You,â is a country song. Of course, the genre is fitting for the fifth Toy Story film she made it for (starring cowgirl Jessie), but the genre is also the same as her debut album. Before that, she hadnât released a proper country song in a long time, so this most recent single might be giving us a taste of whatâs to come.
Spotify Changes
Additionally, eagle-eyed Swifties have noticed that three of her songs on Spotify have changed their canvases (backgrounds) to solid colors. âI Knew It, I Knew Youâ changed to green, the piano version of the single changed to purple, and âBlank Spaceâ from 1989 changed to red.
There are a million things these changes might be hinting at, but one thing Swifties know is that nothing is a coincidence when it comes to their favorite pop star. Green, fans know, is the main representative color of her debut album, so that color change might be a clue that the rerecorded album is coming. The purple and red, however? Fans are theorizing the red and purple might represent her albums Red âwhich, of course, is aesthetically paired with the color red â and Speak Now, which is known to be represented by purple.Â
Others are wondering if the three colors might represent three different versions of Debut (TV). Fans think the green represents the classic country version, the purple represents a full acoustic or piano version, and the red represents a pop version of the album. This would be a reference to one of Swiftâs biggest pop-country idols, Shania Twain, who famously released three versions of her own album Up! in a country style, pop style, and world style. Twain has always been an inspiration for Swift, and the two have had similar career trajectories (not being held down by either pop or country genre conventions), so this potential three-version album inspired by Twain wouldnât be too much of a stretch.
With the run Swift has been on in the past few years â releasing full new albums, rerecording old ones, and completing a massive world tour â it somehow doesnât look like things will be slowing down for Swift anytime soon. The real question is: What exactly is coming next?
