Taylor Swift Is The Mockingjay Of The ‘Hunger Games’ Resurgence

OK Swifties, we’ve gotta talk about Taylor Swift’s release of re-recordings, including “Safe & Sound” and “Eyes Open.” Both songs were part of The Hunger Games: Songs From District 12 And Beyond soundtrack. After the TikTok Hunger Games resurgence and all four movies being added to Netflix for one month only, this cannot be a coincidence — something big is coming.

Twitter is speculating that this is all leading up to the release of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes on Nov. 17, 2023. Since the series first debuted 11 years ago, they needed to generate buzz — and I’d say it’s been pretty successful. Besties, it’s time to reread the entire series and rewatch all of the movies, all while having Taylor’s songs on repeat.

The re-recordings were a shock to fans, especially “Safe & Sound.” The song features The Civil Wars – a former music duo made up of Joy Williams and John Paul White. After their split in 2014, fans on Twitter gush about the power that Taylor Swift holds in bringing them back together for the re-record.

Twitter’s reactions to the releases are pure gold. Fans are absolutely loving the nostalgia that the tracks are bringing – it’s like we’re back in 2012. Don’t be surprised if you see me wearing combat boots and a side braid to class on Monday.

I just know Taylor is Team Katniss and Peeta…

I’ll be playing these songs nonstop over the next few weeks, prepare to be sick of me.
