The question on everyone’s mind on Sept. 14 was, will Taylor Swift be at the Emmy’s? At least, that’s what us Swifties were thinking. Swift didn’t actually attend the Emmy’s, unfortunately, but instead, she joined Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay for a fun prerecorded sketch trying to figure out whether Swift would show up to the ceremony. And if there’s one thing Swift has taught us, it’s to always look for the clues. So, after the sketch aired, fans were obviously going to investigate.
The sketch even poked fun at the way Swifties believe everything is an Easter egg. But then, Swift seemingly gave fans something to investigate when she broke the third wall and said, “I think what we’re going to be looking for is hiding in plain sight.” She then followed it up with what sounds like a strange array of words, but fans have been decoding: “Saccharide. Aries. From the vineyard. North or south.”
Between the mysterious words, a clock showing 10:13, and references to songs from albums Swift has yet to re-release, the sketch has given fans plenty of new material to overanalyze.
Fans are breaking apart every word Swift says in the sketch, down to predicting her possible outfit choices in the future.
Some Swifties believe the array of words could be a code for the re-release of her debut album. Aries is the first zodiac sign in astrology, so fans think this could be a hint to her first album.
This fan pointed out that the jokes making fun of Swifties always looking into details could actually be a warning to look further. Hargitay even says, “The answer has been TV the whole time.” Which has caused fans to believe that she is referring to “Taylor’s Version” rather than television.
One fan even connected a fax number hiding in the background of the video to the possible re-release date of her debut album.
Of course, there’s always the possibility that Swifties are reading way too much into it. But that’s the thing about being a Swiftie. If there’s even the tiniest possibility that Swift left a clue, we’re going to look for it. And with two Taylor’s Version albums still left to be released, fans have plenty of reasons to keep looking.
