When I heard that Bliss Spa was in midtown, I was so excited for the chance to both get off campus and pamper myself! At 57th Street and 5th Avenue, Bliss 57 is the perfect location for a break from shopping.

When I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly woman at the front desk. She took me back to the manicure/pedicure room and introduced me to the woman who would be doing my nails. She was finishing up her earlier appointment, so I sat on a comfy Bliss blue bench and poured myself a glass of water. I considered taking an apple from a lovely display at the snack area, but I was worried my chomping would annoy the other clients trying to enjoy their tranquility.

An old episode of Sex and the City was playing without sound on the T.V. I watched Carrie and her hair over my shoulder as I tried to pick a polish color. I stared at the wall of Essie bottles for what felt like hours – debating neon versus pastel, bold versus chic, trendy versus classic. It was a warm day and I wasn’t ready for fall’s dark shades, so I finally went with Lapis of Luxury, a cornfield blue that would keep summer alive on my fingertips for the next few weeks.

My decision-making process had really only taken a few minutes, and once I’d made my choice, the woman said it was my turn. She followed normal manicure procedure until she added a warm towel treatment and moisturizing hand/arm massage. I was in heaven and wanted it to last forever.

I left Bliss feeling rejuvenated and ready to face the hours of homework ahead of me… but first, I made a stop at Forever 21 on 5th Avenue. It was practically on my way back to school, how could I resist?!
