SZA Ran To Accept Her Grammy After Taking A Shot & TBH, It Was Iconic

SZA has already made a major splash at the Grammy Awards. Nominated for nine awards, she is the most-nominated artist at this year’s event. So far, she has taken home Best R&B Song for “Snooze,” Best Progressive R&B Album for SOS, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with “Ghost in the Machine” featuring Phoebe Bridgers. When accepting the Best R&B Song Grammy, SZA had the most touching speech ever.

Lizzo presented the Grammy to the “Kill Bill” artist as she said, “I’m out of breath because I was changing, then I took a shot and I ran here. Lizzo and I have been friends since 2013 when we were both on a tiny Red Bull tour together, opening up in small rooms for like 100 people, and to be on the stage with her is so amazing, I’m so grateful.”

SZA then began thanking her parents, friends, God, and more. “I’m sorry,” she said through happy tears, “I’m just really overwhelmed. You don’t really understand, I came really really far and I can’t believe this is happening.”

Finally, through tears, SZA cheerily said, “Hi, Taylor! I love you! I’m just very grateful. I’m not an attractive crier.”

Plus, she already *killed* it when performing “Snooze” and “Kill Bill” on the Grammys stage, so the most nerve-wracking part is over for her.

In the past, SZA was nominated for various awards (24 total) at the Grammys including Best New Artist, Best Urban Contemporary Album, and more at the 2018 awards. Additionally, SZA won her first Grammy in 2022 for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with Doja Cat for their song “Kiss Me More.” I’m so happy to see her finally getting her flowers for her solo work, though.

Excuse us for also not being attractive criers. This is so deserved and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the night unfolds for the SOS artist.
