This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Monte Carlo for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
On June 23 I had the opportunity to catch an advance screening of Monte Carlo through Teen Vogue. I had no idea it was also the actual premiere of the movie, and was surprised to hear mass amounts of screams for the movie’s star, Selena Gomez and her boyfriend, Justin Bieber, who came out to support his girlfriend. While I didn’t see the two — I was too happy to sit back noshing on popcorn to elbow the 12-year-old girls who swear up and down they are Justin’s future wives — it added an element of fun to the screening.
The flick — which hits theaters this Friday (although you can get tickets on Fandango starting on Wednesday) was very cute. It reminded me a lot of The Lizzie McGuire Movie but without the fun music (sad, I know). But Selena Gomez is so cute and I’ve never really seen any of her stuff before. It’s clear why Bieber fell for her (collective awww).
The movie is about Grace’s (Selena Gomez) post-high school graduation trip to Paris. Along for the ride are her outspoken best friend from work, Emma (Katie Cassidy), and her uptight new stepsister, Meg (Leighton Meester). On their Paris trip, Grace is mistaken for British socialite and heiress, Cordelia, and, with Emma’s persuading, the girls go along for the adventure as Grace poses as Cordelia during a Monte Carlo getaway. It’s the dream experience they need to make the trip (and all the hours spent working to earn money for the trip) totally worth it. The girls were certainly not seeing Paris in the lap of luxury, so this is their chance!

The movie is definitely a fun one to check out for the summer. Sure it’s no Oscar contended (LOL) but it’s something you and your sister, mom, or friends (I wouldn’t drag any boyfriends to this one) can go to and oggle over the European hunks (and of course, Cory Monteith, who plays Emma’s redneck boyfriend), wish you stumbled upon the sort of life Grace did (you can’t even imagine how this British heiress travels and the kind of clothes she has), and mentally prepare for your own European trip!
Once you see it on Friday, let me know what you think by posting a comment below! And in the meantime, “Like” the movie on their Facebook page!
