The Cast Of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Is Full Of Newcomers

If you also felt the absence of a new To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before movie this past February, you’re in luck. TATB author Jenny Han’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, which was published before the Netflix inspiration in 2009, is getting a similar treatment. It was announced that the series would be made into a TV show by Amazon, and The Summer I Turned Pretty’s cast is every book fan’s dream

Described as a multigenerational, coming-of-age love story that centers on teenager Belly and her love triangle with two brothers, the book touches on the relationships between mothers and their children, love, heartbreak, and the magic of summer. It became an instant hit with Gen Z, even leading to Twilight-esque ship wars – are you team Jeremiah or team Conrad?)

The adaptation will be a co-production between Amazon Studios and wiip, which also produces Apple’s Dickinson, and features eight episodes. Han herself has written the pilot, and is also billed as an executive producer and co-showrunner (so OG book fans can breathe a sigh of relief). Gabrielle Stanton, who worked on some of your other favorite shows like The Flash, Grey’s Anatomy, and Arrow, is also co-showrunner and executive producer. So though there’s no trailer or release date yet, there are plenty of reasons to be excited. Read on to find out who’s playing who in your next binge.

Lola Tung As Isabel “Belly” Conklin

Newcomer Lola Tung is a graduate of LaGuardia High School of The Performing Arts and currently studies at Carnegie Mellon University. She plays main character Belly, a young girl who is used to being awkward. When she begins to get attention from boys after turning 16, she's left trying to figure out how to deal with it.

Minnie Mills is Shayla

Belly’s fellow debutante Shayla is a city girl from a wealthy family who is cool, confident, and loves fashion. Shayla will be played by Minnie Mills, who is also making her acting debut in The Summer I Turned Pretty.

Christopher Briney is Conrad Fisher

Belly has had a lifelong crush on on Conrad, a straight-A student and star athlete. Over the summer Conrad becomes moody and distant, and Belly isn’t sure why. Her crush is played by Christopher Briney, a graduate of Pace University. While Briney has experience in theater and short films, The Summer I Turned Pretty marks his first series.

Gavin Casalegno is Jeremiah “Jere” Fisher

Jere is Conrad's brother, played by Gavin Casalegno. Even though Conrad realizes he has feelings for Belly, he puts them aside out of love for his brother. Chances are you’ve seen Casalegno star as young Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries. He also appeared in Walker and Noah, alongside Emma Watson.

Sean Kaufman is Steven Conklin

Steven, Belly’s handsome, high-achieving, snarky older brother, will be played by Sean Kaufman. You might know Kaufman from NBC’s Manifest, where he played Kevin. He's also been seen on Law & Order: Special as well as FBI: Most Wanted.

Jackie Chung is Laurel Conklin

Laurel is Belly’s mom, a novelist with a wry sense of humor and aversion to technology. Played by Jackie Chung, Laurel was divorced a year prior to the start of the novel and we see the stress is affecting her writing career. Chung has been seen recently in Station 19, Grey’s Anatomy, and Coming Home Again.

David Iacono is Cam

A local skater boy with a sweet personality, Cam is Belly’s first boyfriend. He's played by Dacid Iacono, who also attended LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts. You may recognize him from Grand Army, The Good Doctor, and The Flight Attendant.

Summer Madison is Nicole

Summer Madison plays Nicole, a popular girl who has crushes on the cutest boys in town. Madison is pretty new to the scene too, but you might've spotted her in an episode of Teenage Bounty Hunters.

Rain Spencer is Taylor

Rain Spencer will portray Taylor, a queen bee who’s a bit shallow and boy crazy. Taylor scares her enemies but is a hardcore protector for her best friend, Belly. Spencer also appears in Good Girl Jane, The Super-Man, and The Garden.
