There’s no better place to escape a hot summer day than a cool movie theater playing the latest flicks. Whether you love your movies thrilling or romantic, you’ll have plenty of hits to choose from this summer. New releases with stars like Katherine Heigl and Bradley Cooper will hit the big screen. If you want to watch something more familiar, there are tons of sequels and trilogies, following super hits like Sex and the City 2 and Toy Story 3. Grab your popcorn, your friends and a cushy seat because the show is about to start!

Movies to Take Your Younger Siblings to:

Toy Story 3(June 18)

It’s been 11 years since we last saw Woody, Buzz and the rest of the Pixar gang. You can expect a clever and comical movie that’s not just for kids. This time, Andy is all grown up and heading to college so he boxes up all his favorite toys. The toys journey to a daycare where they know they’ll be loved and make friends with a Ken doll played by Michael Keaton. Watch for a Spanish-speaking Buzz and tons of new toys.

Bottom Line: If you were charmed as a child by Toy Story and Toy Story 2, chances are you’ll enjoy the third one.

Eclipse (July 2)

Everyone’s favorite vampires and werewolves are back for their third movie. Only eight months after New Moon, the story picks up as Bella faces a choice between Edward Cullen and Jacob Black. Bella also must make a decision about her morality. Whether this movie is good or not won’t be the point—the Twihards are going to flock to it in the hopes of seeing sparkly Robert Pattinson without his shirt on.

Bottom Line: If you were at opening night for Twilight and New Moon, you know you’re going to love Eclipse.

Movies You and Your Boyfriend Will Enjoy:

Iron Man 2 (May 7)

Robert Downey Jr. suits up for a second time back in the summer’s first blockbuster. Playboy billionaire Tony Stark is under pressure from government officials who want to learn the secrets behind his iron suit. Unwilling to divulge his secrets, Stark is also threatened by Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Mickey Rourke as Whiplash. Luckily Gwyneth Paltrow as sweet Pepper Potts is still by his side.

Bottom Line: If you enjoyed Iron Man and Spider Man, you’ll love Iron Man 2.

MacGruber (May 21)

Will Forte brings his sweet but slightly dim SNL character to the silver screen. As a takeoff of the 1980s action series MacGyver, MacGruber and his assistant Vicki (played by SNL superstar Kristen Wiig) must cleverly defuse bombs with only a hairpin and a stick of gum with the clock ticking down. Usually the skits end in an explosion as the incompetent MacGruber gets distracted and fails so it will be interesting to see how a 90 second skit translates into a movie.

Bottom Line:If you can’t get enough of SNL skits and enjoy spinoff movies like Wayne’s World, Superstar or A Night at the Roxbury, you should buy a ticket to MacGruber.

The A-Team (June 11)

Bradley Cooper and Liam Neeson lead a team of cunning former Special Forces soldiers who were set up for a crime they did not commit. After escaping from prison, the team must restore their reputations while fighting crime in the Middle East. Jessica Biel and Patrick Wilson also star in the action adventure movie that will surely be box office gold during June.

Bottom Line: If you love Tropic Thunder or the Losers, check out The A-Team.

Movies to See with Your Girlfriends:

Sex and the City 2 (May 28)

Carrie and the girls are back! We know you and your Manolos have been waiting two long years for this sequel that takes the girls across the world to Abu Dhabi. You’ll want your own girls with you as you take in all the larger-than-life fashion and fun. Keep your eyes peeled for the return of Carrie’s ex Aidan and cameos from Miley Cyrus and Penelope Cruz.

Bottom Line: If you adored the first film, you’re going to love the second one.

Killers (June 4)

Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl are a comic dream team in this movie about newlyweds. But it’s not all domestic bliss because Kutcher’s character forgot to mention that he is a super-spy being hunted down by assassins. At first, Heigl is a fish out of water, trying to keep up with her husband’s stealthy spy ways and attempting not to get killed. Bullets will fly and so will sparks because judging from the trailer, these two have great chemistry.

Bottom Line: If you liked the excitement of Mr. & Mrs. Smith plus the romantic hijinks of 27 Dresses, you’ll wanna watch this movie.

Movies to See With A Group:

Dinner for Schmucks(July 23)

Tim (Paul Rudd) wants a promotion but first he must bring a buffoonish guest to his boss’s traditional “Dinner for Schmucks”. He looks no further than village idiot Barry (Steve Carell) who is one part Evan Baxter (from Bruce Almighty) and one part Brick (from Anchorman). Their friendship unexpectedly develops and Tim must decide if he should risk Barry’s feelings just for a job. A remake of the comedic French film “Le Dîner De Cons”, this film also stars Zach Galifianakis and Jemaine Clement from The Flight of the Concords.

Bottom Line:If you enjoyed Meet the Parents or I Love You, Man, you’ll want to catch this film.

The Other Guys (August 6)

Without Mugatu’s bleached blond wig or Ron Burgundy’s ‘stache, you may not recognize Will Ferrell. In this movie he plays a meek police officer who idolizes all the tough cops in his division. He and his mismatched partner, played by Mark Wahlberg, finally get to have their time in the spotlight and of course all kinds of tomfoolery follows. The pair has some killer costars including Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne Johnson and Eva Mendes.

Bottom Line: If you love movies like Rush Hour, you should watch The Other Guys.
