Sophie Turner & Joe Jonas’ Dog Was Tragically Killed After Being Hit by a Car in NYC

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are mourning the loss of their beloved fur baby, Waldo Picasso.

The newlyweds suffered an unimaginable tragedy this past week when their Alaskan Klee Kai passed away after being struck by a car in New York City, TMZ reports.

At the time of the incident on Wednesday, the celebrity couple’s dog was being walked by their dog walker on the lower east side of Manhattan, PEOPLE reports.

Though Waldo was on a leash, he reportedly broke free after becoming spooked by a pedestrian and ran out into the street, where he tragically struck by an oncoming car. A rep for Jonas has called the situation “a freak accident.”

The Game of Thrones actress and singer obviously very distraught, reported the incident to the New York Police Department on Friday.

According to Cosmopolitan, the couple delayed the filing because they were so heartbroken over the loss of their beloved dog, even seeking out help from a therapist in the wake of this horrific incident.

Turner and Jonas welcomed Waldo, the brother of their other pooch, Porky Basquiat, in April 2018.

Announcing the exciting news of their new fur baby, Turner took to Instagram to share a sweet photo of the canine brothers, as well as one of her cuddling Waldo. “Welcome to the family @waldopicassojonas ? ♥️ ?” she captioned the photos.

In 2018, Jonas also posed with the couple’s two dogs in PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive issue, where he talked about how Waldo and Porky were living the high life, including visiting the GOT set and traveling the world.

“They live a pretty fabulous life,” Jonas told PEOPLE, adding that Waldo and Porky had traveled to France, England, Canada, the Netherlands and all across the U.S. “They have probably traveled more than most of my friends.”

We are hugging our fur babies extra tight today and sending lots of love to Turner and Jonas after this unimaginable tragedy.
