Sochi Scoop: 10 Hilarious Tweets from Journalists in Sochi

Athletes, journalists and spectators have been moving into Sochi, Russia, over the past few days. What they’ve come to find, however, is that Olympic Park and its surrounding areas aren’t as ready for the Games as they should be. With more than $50 billion spent on this year’s Winter Olympics, journalists covering the Games might expect their hotels’ furnishings to be secure or their sink water to be safe. Unfortunatley, that’s not the case.

To our amusement, some journalists who are already in Sochi have taken to social media to share their Olympic mishaps and misfortunes. Over the past few days, they’ve been keeping the Twittersphere updated on their distresses and woes.

While it may seem a little unorganized right now, let’s hope that Sochi can pull it together in time for an amazing opening ceremony on February 7! In the meantime, check out these hilarious tweets from some not-so-lucky Sochi visitors.

1. Um, a little unsettling, no?

2. No, no, no, no.

3. A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.

4. Thanks, Putin.

5-8. Only minor details…

9. No, thank you!

10. Sounds like a good deal to us.

Yet in the end, it’s important to look on the bright side.
