The ‘Silly Goofy Mood’ TikTok Trend Is Perfect For When You’re Having A Moment

I recently came across the ‘Silly Goofy Mood’ TikTok trend, which reminds me that we all have our moments and it’s okay to laugh at ourselves. Whether someone just caught you at the stoplight bawling your eyes out to Olivia Rodrigo or you suddenly forgot how to do basic math (me, every single day), allow me to introduce you to your new go-to response for every situation possible: “Oh lord, um, I’m sorry. I’m just in a silly goofy mood!”

If you spent your entire paycheck on a brand new wardrobe today or your roommate just walked in on you fully clothed in the bathtub contemplating life (hey, it happens), you can always chalk it up to being in a silly, goofy mood. The TikTok trend was originally jumpstarted by creator @josiesire, who used this hilarious soundbite to set the stage for a joke about The Vampire Diaries. The trending audio features a quote from actor Shemar Moore (I see you, Criminal Minds fans!), who originally joked about his “silly goofy mood” in this giggly Instagram post.

In true TikToker fashion, creators instantly fell in love with the strangely relatable soundbite, and now, they’re using the trend to poke fun at their own antics. In this version, the creator shakes her head and jokes, “me when I tip $10 to a barista bc she was pretty even tho i cannot afford gas” followed by the soundbite, “Oh lord, um, I’m sorry. I’m just in a silly goofy mood.” I also love this one from TikToker @lacinicole__, who says, “when you were crying to ur bestie and had a whole mental breakdown last night and wake up like nothing happened.” Honestly, @ me next time.

While many takes on the #SillyGoofyMood TikTok trend are pretty wholesome, other TikTokers have used the trend as an excuse to unleash their sass, like barista @vocebaskka, who says, “When a customer says ‘give me a surprise drink,’ and you hand them a black coffee LMAO.” I will never judge how you take your coffee, but I’m just saying…savage.

To try the trend for yourself, think of a time — whether it’s embarrassing, cheeky, or generally hilarious — where you felt like you needed a justification for your behavior. Record yourself thinking about the event, then, grab the trending soundbite, add a quippy caption and the hashtag #SillyGoofyMood, and voila! And remember, the next time you “accidentally” overtip the hot barista or catch yourself acting up, you can always chalk it up to your silly, goofy mood.
