Selena Gomez is more than just a former Disney starlet: Her music career is evolving and maturing, she serves as an executive producer on Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why, and now she’s collaborating with artists outside of her typical wheelhouse. And the results are actually… kinda creepy.
The 25-year-old star teamed up with her friend, artist Petra Collins (who has directed her music videos for “Bad Liar” and “Fetish”), for a visual art short film called “A Love Story,” which is set to debut on IGTV, Instagram’s newest platform for video content.
The aesthetic of “A Love Story” is very much representative of Petra’s style, if the startling images in her music videos for Selena are any indication. Petra has been releasing some sneak previews on her Instagram, complete with lots of weird, hyper-realistic prosthetics.
I, personally, am loving this color palette.
I kinda want this as a bath bomb so long as the human face doesn’t come with it?
Selena has been wanting to branch out and do a horror project with Petra for a long time. Petra told Vanity Fair last May, “I love The Exorcist and the things that come from inside you… the things that are a little more subtle, and things that you deal with from inwards, and I feel like it’s something Selena and I both love talking about…that topic is sort of dear to us.”
Also, look at this picture from Petra’s Insta Story of Selena with an eye in her mouth, proving that no amount of creepiness can prevent her from looking amazing:
This spooky, beautiful creation is making me antsy for Halloween, not to mention its debut on IGTV. What an honor to be disturbed by something so lovely!
