Selena Gomez Inspired ’13 Reasons Why’ Star Katherine Langford to Make Her Instagram Public

If you haven’t seen Netflix’s 13 Reason Why, go watch it right now. Seriously. The show is executive-produced by Selena Gomez, who we’re now learning convinced Katherine Langford, the actress behind Hannah Baker, to make her Instagram profile public.

Clearly I’m not very good at this photo-taking thing… Dankeschön Berlin!

And we’re so glad she did. Not only is Katherine insanely gorgeous, but we all want to see what her life is like now that she’s a huge TV star.

In an interview with The Last Magazine, Katherine talks about how big this decision was for her. “I wanted to be an actor purely for the acting work,” she says. “I have never been attracted to increasing my popularity or hireability by being on Instagram… I didn’t want to make myself a consumable product. I just wanted to be able to do my job and then disappear.” Hate to break it to you, Katherine, but once you become a celebrity, there’s no such thing as disappearing.

She also shares that the reason Selena wanted her to go public is so she could use social media as a platform to talk to young adults, since the show is targeted to them.

Even though Katherine has only been public on Instagram since February, I think she’s totally rocking it! Keep doing you, girl, and keep inspiring young people.
