There’s a lot of pressure that comes with being the most-followed person on Instagram — and it seems like, at least for a brief time today anyway — Selena Gomez has had enough.
Fans were freaking out on Tuesday after the “Wolves” singer posted a cryptic, now-deleted Instagram story and subsequently made her Instagram account private for part of the day, People reports.
It all started when Gomez posted a screenshot of part of her recent interview for Billboard, with the super strange caption, “Never will I let another human guess my words ever again,” she wrote. “Or invite them in my home. That is so hurtful. The most ‘ridiculous’ part of that is no one knowing my heart when I say things.”

It seems that the section of the article Selena objects to is the one in which the interviewer points out a giant teddy bear in her living room. “There’s a five-foot teddy bear sprawled across the kitchen floor in Selena Gomez’s North Hollywood home,” the article reads. “‘I know, I know,’ says Gomez, rolling her eyes, acknowledging that the stuffed animal doesn’t quite blend with the trio of armchairs nestled in the inviting, marble-accented nook. ‘It was a gift, and at first I thought, This is so ridiculous, I can’t wait until I give it away to another person.’ But Gomez, 25, hasn’t let go of it — yet.”
Selena choosing to call the story out is strange for two reasons: it’s kind of unclear which part of this particular quote Selena found to be hurtful, and the story has been out for a week now — meaning you’d think she’d have seen it by now.
Regardless, it seems to have caused Gomez to also make her Instagram private for several hours on Tuesday — though chances are, if you’re one of her 130 million followers, you probably didn’t even catch it. When fans did finally take notice, many left comments on her latest Instagram making sure everything was okay. Some suggested that the Billboard article upset whoever gifted her with the teddy bear when he or she read that Selena called it “ridiculous” in her interview — which seems like a pretty likely explanation TBH.
Whatever the reason for the brief bump in Selena’s day, as of Tuesday evening, she’s public once again — so hopefully it’s all good?
