Sarah Hyland just proved that even after nine seasons of Modern Family, fans still don’t know everything about the show. On Wednesday, the actress responded to a fan theory that her character, eldest Dunphy sister Haley, is actually bisexual. Sarah revealed her thoughts in a tweet, writing, “I don’t know what the writers would say? But I confirm,” PEOPLE reports.

While the show’s writers have yet to comment, fans are pretty stoked about the actress’s stance. It may come as a shock, especially since Haley’s love life has only involved men thus far. But as the responses show, a same sex romance would be welcomed by viewers.

In a more recent tweet, though, Sarah admitted that the fan theory may still be too good to be true. Apparently, her earlier confirmation reflects how Sarah herself sees Haley, and not necessarily how the character is written. “Just to clarify, havent been told nor is there anything written that would indicate Haley is bisexual. That’s just my personal opinion!”
