Sarah Hyland Is Having A Baby…On ‘Modern Family’ That Is

This new season of Modern Family has been keeping viewers on their toes with all of its unexpected twists. Just mere episodes after we had to say goodbye to Claire’s mom, DeDe Pritchett, (played by Shelley Long), the popular show introduced a shocking new plot for Sarah Hyland’s character, Haley Dunphy — she’s pregnant

Here’s what went down during Wednesday’s episode: Haley and Dylan (played by Reid Ewing) went to a carnival and, in an effort to show how mature they were since Haley was accused of having Peter Pan syndrome, the two decided to drive some bumper cars. Because, as we can all agree, driving bumper cars is definitely something a mature adult would do. In an unfortunate accident, Dylan bumps Haley’s bumper car as she was reapplying her lipstick, and the lipstick tube accidentally gets stuck in her nose. The couple goes to the hospital to get Haley looked at, and during some routine hospital tests, it was revealed that Haley had a bump — a baby bump that is!

You can see a clip of the whole bumper car accident below:

This may not come as a such a shock to avid viewers because Sarah had already hinted at the baby news. Sarah told The Hollywood Reporter two weeks ago that there was a “bigger thing than the death” coming up for her character, adding that “It was a shock, that’s for sure.” Her costar Jesse Tyler Ferguson also added to the hint, telling The Hollywood Reporter: “There’s a major thing happening this season. It’s beyond…I think you’ll be surprised.”

In an Instagram post, Sarah also told fans to “buckle up” because the episode was “gonna be a BUMPY ride!”

This baby news has got me all excited! Be sure to catch Modern Family on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
