Sabrina Carpenter Revealed A New Shoulder Tattoo That Has A Ton Of Meaning

One of your favorite musicians has debuted a new subtle tattoo that is super simple, but has a lot of meaning. On Jan. 15, Sabrina Carpenter shared an Instagram photo dump that showed images ranging from an iconic pair of red heels to a beautifully designed piano and a screenshot of her lyrics from “Feather,” but it was the very last photo in the dump that stole the show for me — one that showed off Sabrina Carpenter’s tiny shoulder tattoo

The most intriguing photo that caught my attention was that last picture added in the dump, which features Carpenter in a backless sweater with a tiny tattoo on her upper left shoulder that reads “at last.” At first glance, you might’ve missed the subtle tattoo that completed the photo dump. While every other photo is shown in color, this is the only one in black and white, which could have a meaning of its own.

“At last” is seen in a simplistic cursive font, which was done by celebrity tattoo artist Dr. Woo. Although the pop singer hasn’t revealed the entire meaning of the tattoo, there are a number of things that’ll help fans understand it. For example, the words “at last” could directly reference the iconic Etta James song “At Last” that debuted in 1961. This meaning doesn’t seem too far-fetched since Carpenter has performed covers of the song on her tours. In an interview with Teen Vogue in July 2018, she also listed the song as one of the songs of her life, stating it was the first lyrics to a song that she had learned.

Another meaning of her iconic tattoo could be a more personal reference to where she is in her life and career at the moment. After all, she’s still touring with Taylor Swift on the iconic Eras Tour. Carpenter described going on tour with the pop superstar as a “childhood dream come true,” which makes total sense considering Carpenter used to cover Swift’s songs on her YouTube channel as an upcoming artist. This could all be seen as a full-circle moment for Carpenter as she embarks on the next steps of her professional music career.

To top the photo dump off, the singer captioned the dump “2+0+2+4,” (eight, or ate, of course), and I couldn’t agree more.
