Royal Wedding Singer Kicks off U.S. Tour

Will and Kate’s favorite pop singer is making a splash across the pond with her U.S. tour.

Ellie Goulding, 24, rose to fame in 2010 with the fastest-selling debut album in Britain. With a unique sound that blends folk music and electronic pop, her “Lights” album debuted at #1 on the UK Charts and earned her a Critics’ Choice Award at the 2010 Brit Awards.

After British rapper Tinie Tempah introduced Goulding to Prince William at a music festival in 2010, the “Starry Eyed” singer was asked to perform at the royal wedding this spring.

Goulding serenaded 300 of Will and Kate’s family and friends at the Buckingham palace reception. The newlywed royal couple danced to her popular rendition of “Your Song” by Sir Elton John, a close friend of the late Princess Diana.

Now, the petite blonde singer has set her sights on the States. Goulding released the U.S. version of her album in March. After wrapping up her American spring tour, which included stops at the Coachella and South by Southwest music festivals, she guest starred on Saturday Night Live on May 7.

“It was insane… insanely good,” she said of her first round of performances in America.  “The tour sold out and I’ve got a lot of new fans. I think it was important for me to meet people and I didn’t want to just do a bunch of shows, I wanted to get really involved.”

Goulding kicked off a second U.S. tour on Saturday in Atlanta, and will perform everywhere from San Francisco to Chicago’s Lollapalooza Festival later this summer. Check out Goulding’s U.S. tour calendar to see if she’ll be performing in your city.
