Singer Robin Thicke and his ex-wife, actress Paula Patton, have had relatively amicable relations since their divorce in March 2015. However, that relationship might be changing since TMZ reports that a custody war is brewing between the two. Patton is alleging that Thicke spanked their 6-year-old son Julian so hard that he informed his mother and his school.
The school handed the incident over to the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services to further examine the situation. In legal documents obtained by TMZ, Patton addressed Thicke, saying, “Julian is scared of you.”
There were also claims of other instances of violence, with a school official telling the court that Julian says Thicke “punches” him.
However, Thicke’s reply in the court documents suggests that not only was spanking a form of discipline the pair agreed on when they were married, but Patton is also lashing out after not being invited to his father Alan Thicke’s funeral following his sudden passing on Dec. 13. “Paula did not have a positive relationship with my father and often made negative comments to me about my father,” Thicke says. “As such, she was not welcome at his funeral.”
TMZ reports that while a judge did not agree to Patton’s request to change her joint custody agreement, the DCFS is still interviewing the family. Hopefully these two can settle the issue for Julian’s sake.
