Rest in Peace Lilly Pulitzer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Notre Dame chapter.

Nowhere else but in fabulous Palm Beach would heiress and preppy icon Lilly Pulitzer get inspiration for her now world-famous shift dresses and gorgeous prints. Inspired by her husband’s citrus grove proprieties, Lilly got her entrepreneurial start opening a fresh-squeezed juice store on swanky Worth Avenue. Not to be deterred by pesky juice stains, Lilly created printed dresses to mask and compliment bright orange hues. Customers so loved her dresses that she moved her business energies from juice production to making and marketing the beautiful dresses that decorate women from Notre Dame, to Southern sororities, and, of course, to the elite crowds of Palm Beach.

Long live the Queen of Prep’s dream, vision and beauty.

“Live every day like it’s a celebration and make every hour a happy hour.”- Lilly Pulitzer
