Reneé Rapp Is SNL’s First Musical Guest Of 2024 & Twitter Is Losing It

Don’t you just love it when your faves speak things into existence? On Dec. 16, Saturday Night Live announced Jacob Elordi and Reneé Rapp as the host and musical guest, respectively, for its first episode of 2024, which will air on Jan. 20. The news comes at the end of Rapp’s breakthrough year. Since the release of Snow Angel, Rapp’s become more than just a musical theater icon and cemented her status as a main pop girl. In addition to the best-selling debut album and her sold-out Snow Hard Feelings tour, the singer’s really grown her fanbase and put herself on the map. Of course, once fans heard that Rapp would be appearing on SNL with Elordi in 2024, they instantly lost it.

OG Rapp fans know that appearing on SNL has been a goal of hers for quite some time, with the singer promising to “shake her ass, whatever it takes” to get the gig. Maybe it was the nightly “Willow” dance breaks on her Snow Hard Feelings tour, or the sheer power of manifestation — Rapp is living proof that any dream can be spoken into existence.

Naturally, users flocked to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their adorable reactions. Here are some of my favorites!

With Rapp and Elordi set to appear at the same time and the announcement taking place during the Kate McKinnon episode, SNL is feeding the sapphics.

Plus, January will be a packed month for Rapp fans.

After her Saturday Night Live performance, Rapp will embark on the European leg of her Snow Hard Feelings tour, including some shows at indie record stores. Plus, she’s reprising her role as Regina George in the musical remake of Mean Girls, which comes out in theaters Jan. 12. One of Rapp’s songs in Mean Girls, a duet with Megan Thee Stallion called “Not My Fault,” was released on Dec. 15 as the first single from the movie’s soundtrack.

Needless to say, I can’t wait for Rapp to keep serving us in the new year.
