Reneé Rapp is nothing short of iconic. Since gaining fame for her performance as Regina George in the Broadway production of Mean Girls in 2019, Rapp has shown fans and critics exactly why she deserves to be where she is today. Not only did she give a fabulous performance on The Sex Lives of College Girls, but since the release of the new Mean Girls musical movie adaptation, many got to witness more of Rapp’s talents as an actress and singer as she reprised the role of Regina George. So now many are wondering: Will Renee Rapp be at the 2024 Grammys? The answer to that might not be one you were expecting.
In August 2023, Rapp released her debut album, Snow Angel, which had hits such as “Tummy Hurts” (which now has a Coco Jones feature), “Pretty Girls,” and “I Hate Boston.” Before the album’s release, she was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist. After the album’s release, Rapp was nominated for four MTV VMAs — all in just one year. Her songs have received massive plays TikTok, and many fans and industry insiders have acknowledged that Rapp is — in fact — a star.
Because of all these accolades, many expected the Rapp to be among the Best New Artist nominees for the 2024 Grammys. I mean think about it — she’s talented, her songs have been well-received, and her music videos are fire. However, when the nominee’s list was released in late 2023, Rapp was unfortunately not one of the chosen ones. This has left fans extremely confused, myself included. As for whether or not Rapp will be attending the event, it’s not looking likely. Because she wasn’t nominated, she probably didn’t score an invite herself. However, it’s possible she could go in support of artists she has worked with this year. Nominees are often given tickets to attend the show and some have brought guests in the past. Coco Jones was nominated for Best New Artist this year, so there’s always the slight chance Rapp is invited to attend with Jones, or another one of her nominated friends.
Thankfully, this situation has not stopped the performer from shining. As part of the Mean Girls soundtrack, Rapp released an iconic song with Megan Thee Stallion titled “Not My Fault,” and it has been an absolute hit. She has also been getting massive support for her singles in the movie, and seems to be thriving either way.
Now fans will just have to wait and see if the 2025 Grammys are better to Reneé Rapp.
